January 7th 2025: Construction green boards are now up at 76-01 and 76-05 Glenmore Avenue for Al Furqan’s new masjid in Ozone Park. The project has been in the works for years as the masjid raised funds for a larger and permanent building close to its current location.
The proposal calls for an 8,000 square foot building with 3 floors and a budget of more than $3.5 million.
Department of Buildings records do not show any active permits for the site at this time. The existing house on the property will need to be demolished first once the permits are approved. The green boards suggest early site preparation has started.
Al Furqan leaders were not able to provide a statement. The community has been watching this project closely and expects more updates as the process moves forward.

Their quick attention and steady presence kept a dangerous situation from becoming something much worse. These men and women give their time without asking for anything in return, and they continue to prove how important community vigilance is. January 20 2025: COPCP civilian patrol volunteers spotted a suspicious vehicle linked to a series of package thefts in and around our neighborhood. Thanks to their vigilance and quick actions, two individuals were arrested, and the vehicle was impounded by the 102 Precinct.
The group stated on Facebook, "It’s important to remember that while social media posts help spread awareness, they don’t provide law enforcement with the actionable evidence needed to address these incidents fully. Filing a police report is critical—it creates an official record, helps identify patterns, and gives law enforcement what they need to hold those responsible accountable.
If you’ve experienced package theft, we strongly encourage you to file a report with the NYPD (which can even be done online) and notify us so we can remain vigilant.
It starts with us as a community. To tackle these issues we need to work together."
